Why Walking Matters
So, let’s talk about one thing that you could do to really improve the function in the lower back, right? I want to talk about walking.
You might say, “Oh, that’s too simple. I do walk.” I’m talking about intentional walking.
You see, what we have seen with our societal demands of long-term sitting—and believe me, if you don’t think you sit, we all sat for the first 18 years of our lives for eight hours a day, five days a week. So, you’re not excluded from this. And neither are we, unless you’re homeschooled.
Walking is probably the most underrated therapy that we possibly have, right? It helps activate your core. It helps get your breathing in line. It also helps activate your glutes to open up your hips, right?
Cerebrospinal Fluid Flow
And my favorite: cerebrospinal fluid flow.
Just like your heart pumps your blood, your cerebrospinal fluid is what takes nutrients to your nervous system and helps detoxify it. Walking, in particular, helps pump this, right? Because the two pumps that pump your cerebrospinal fluid are your sacrum, which is just below the back, right, and the very top—the base of the skull.
So, walking is a vital way to get nutrients where they need to go for your nervous system and to stimulate the proper activation of your core and necessary muscles, like the glutes, in order to overcome sitting.
What Intentional Walking Looks Like
So, let’s talk about what walking looks like, okay? Every day for 30 minutes.
And if that sounds like a lot to you, think about what we used to walk for. Think about the way that we were supposed to be walking, right? Before cars, horses, bikes, and unicycles.
Thirty minutes a day, okay? With intention, like Dr. Daron said, okay? You’re moving from point A to point B. We want to get oxygenation. We want to get your blood flowing, okay? We want to increase your breathing, increase your perspiration, and actually get somewhere, okay?
Every day, 30 minutes.
Benefits for Your Body and Mind
Right, as well as the mobility of your lower extremities, like ankles, knees, and hips, so don’t exclude those—or your mind. It’s great for your mind.
Oh yeah, for sure. A hundred percent.
So, when you guys are getting amazing results because you started walking for 30 minutes a day, come check us out and tell us how it’s going.
Yeah, and try an adjustment.
